The Houses (Small) #8–13 (Wood, Paper, Acrylic, 1995, 10x6x12”)
House #2 (Wood, Paper, Acrylic, Photo, 1995, 27x13x31”)

Unfrequented Threshold (Wood, Plaster, Mixed Media, 1995, 38x38x60”)

Architectural fragments embody the hardships caused by drought and the depression and capture the long-ranging effects of abandonment and neglect. These pieces display the duality between the external, or environmental, effects and the internal, or personal, effects—both of which are tempered by the passage of time. Pulling objects from structural remains and reconfiguring them emphasizes the materials’ inherent physical qualities. These works serve as records both of a home’s endurance and its eventual submission to disintegration.
